Tavistock is

Tavistock is a busy market town with lots going on for visitors all year around. Tavistock prides itself on being a Town of History, with festivals, events, sports and other activities going on all year round – from highbrow to eyebrow-raising, there is something for all tastes at all times. Sandwiched between Devon’s two largest cities Exeter & Plymouth there is always tons of activities happening all year round. Dickensian Day is a unique Christmas Market in the run-up to Christmas, the traditional Goose Fair (Is held on the second Wednesday of October each year), Tavistock Music Festival in May. Or why not try a walk around Dartmoor National Park, take in some Premiership Rugby at Exeter Chiefs, or perhaps a day at the Races at Newton Abbot Racecourse, there really is no shortage of things to do.

You can download the Dartmoor National Park App from Apple’s App Store, this is a really useful app which can be used on all Android & Apple devices – search for the ‘Dartmoor National Park’ app.

Tavistock itself is a delight to explore. A wealth of independent shops selling local products from cheese to chocolate, and from fashion to fine art. The ancient Tavistock Pannier Market, in the heart of town, features a different but equally interesting market each day of the week (Accept Sundays & Mondays). And the regular Tavistock Farmers Market, in the bustling town square.

Tavistock has a wide range of local restaurants, bars and nightlife. Feel free to ask us for our recommendations. We carry sample menus for many of our and our guest’s favourite places.

Further afield and easily accessible from Tavistock are Exeter, Plymouth & Cornwall as well as many National Trust sites, all with their own unique appeal and charms.
